This Russian openable egg in the Faberge style features the monogram of Nicholas II, the last Russian tsar and is surmounted by the Russian Imperial crown. There is a "surprise" inside it, a little clock. Gilded brass, colored enamel, faux jewels.
The Faberge eggs began in 1884 with an Easter egg made by the brilliant Russian jeweller Faberge for the Russian tsar Alexander III that became a gift for his wife.
Then Nicholas II, Alexander's son continued the tradition.
Just during this times it was agreed that the Imperial Easter gift would always have an egg shape and would hold a surprise.
