These lovely boxes have been made in form of mushrooms and handpainted by craftsmen of Russian North. Two of them are executed in the Mezen style, one of the oldest and well-known painting styles of the Russian North. The graphic primitive drawing reminds rock carving at the coast of the White Sea and indicates how archaic it is. Fantastic horses, deers and birds are protagonists of this painting style. The artists use only two colors – red and black, on the natural wooden surface, because in the ancient times they were the most simple to get. For the red one the ancient artists used brick earth and for the black one – soot.
These boxes will add a festive atmosphere to your home .
