This attractive round boxes were created in the Mezen painting style by a craftsman from Arkhangelsk. In spite of the detailed painting it is very archaic style of the Russian North. Craftsmen used only two colors – red and black. Because in that times they were the most simple to get. For the red one the ancient artists used brick earth and for the black one – soot. Geometrical lines reflecte the symbols of the ground, sun and water. The deers and birds are protagonists of this painting style. Slavs believed that the deers fill a home with joy and birds – with hapiness. These boxes are very opportune to keep in them various small things that you want to be at hand.
