Military Boonie Hat - Russian "PANAMA"
Russian Army Souvenirs
Military boonie hat - Russian "Panama" boonie cap is popular headgear among Russian Special Forces. The modern boonie hat was originally introduced in Australia in the 1940's to help keep the Australian rancher shaded during long summer days. The hat was developed with a large brim with hand made holes usually cut directly into the hat. A Russian unit is adapted; it replaces the older version that was originally designed for Russian troops stationed in Afghanistan. It has retained its name - "Panama" in Russia.
