Three Flowers and Net Birch Bark Box
Russian Birch Bark
|
This exquisite box is decorated with a thin layer of birch bark coating and exquisite cut-through floral and net ornament over it. Russian craftsmen used birch bark as early as the 13th century, and the art of handling this material reached its golden age in the late 18th century – early 19th century. Nowdays contemporary masters carry on the traditions of their predecessors successfully. Such kind of articles are well-sold at any folk art fairs.
