This pretty canister has been made of birch bark and handpainted by contemporary craftsmen of the Northern part of Russia with flowers in the bright pink background. Russian craftsmen used birch bark as early as the 13th century, and the art of handling this material reached its golden age in the late 18th century – early 19th century.
