Russian Pochaevskaya Mother of God
Russian Icon
This icon, popular in Russia and in the Balkans, was brought to the Pochaev region of Volhynia (Voluinsk province) in 1559 by Neofit, Metropolitan of Constantinople. He gave it to Anna Goyskaya, after which time the icon began to manifest miracles. This image is distinguished by the cloth which the Mother of God holds in her left hand as she supports her Son with the right.
