Russian Wooden Painting Gorodets
These lovely eggs have been handpainted by Russian craftsmen in the best traditions of the Russian Folk art style called Gorodets.
It features a fairy-tale red flower which is considered to bring happiness to people. Thanks to its bright colors and ornaments the bowl will create a festive atmosphere at your home and remind you about Russia.
Painting on the wood from Gorodets is a famous folk craft Nighegorodskiy region. It started developing in the second half of the XIXth century in the villages by the river Usola near the town of Gorodets. Spinning wheels baskets and boxes for the storage of yarn, children’s chairs and some utensils were decorated whith the painting.
Nowadays “Gorodetskaya rospis” (Gorodetskaya painting) is the only enterprise producing art products with the traditional painting. This is a craft with one hundred and half year’s history, alive developing phenomenon of our modern national culture strongly connected both with the past and the present life of the people.
